WAHAHAHA~ CNY is getting boring by the years... as we grow older, new year seems to be less fun. was at my uncle's place this afternoon, i mus say its really nice to meet up with cousins and relatives but there's hardly much to talk about (esp when im the youngest in the family and the age gap is really BIG..) sigh.. One thing is for sure, as the youngest in the family, you always remain very small in their eyes... until today, my relatives still have that impression that im in secondary sch... And when they start asking where am i at now, the next question will be what do you intend to do in uni.. honestly, i feel uncomfortable answering this question, im still very undecided and the last thing i would want is that i end up doing something very different from what i told them earlier. RAHH... can someone teach me how to avoid such questions... maybe i should jus lie that im still in secondary school, after all they would remember rite??
Anyway, reunion dinner was a simple affair at home, no relatives, just the four of us (parents, bro and me). I think reunion dinner is the most meaningful of all chinese practices, like ending the year with a meal together, very much like the american's thanksgiving day. i wished that the reunion dinner would include my extended family members jus like before, but too bad, due to circumstances, this wish of mine will not be possible in the near future. Dont be mistaken, my extended family members are on good terms with one another, its jus that everyone seems to be in poor health in recent years, so there isnt much celebratory mood i guess. Anyway, at 12 midnight sharp, i saw fireworks from my house. I think that's like the first time i had a clear view of fireworks from where i stay. The fireworks were not from the marina or chinatown area, i think its from this temple at loyang industrial area. It was jus awesome and spectacular, of cos its not as marvellous as what you get from the new yr countdown but being able to witness it right before my eyes is more than i can ever ask for :) Oh, and i almost forgot, before midnight, my family headed down to buy flowers at this makeshift nursery at Tampines. We bought this lime plant (i think we call it "kit" ) at a good price of $30... muahaha.. kudos to my dad who actually thought of gg there to buy plants. Shopping on new yr eve is jus great, as prices and slashed to as low as possible..
Anyway, in this festive season, i think we should not forget those who are not able to celebrate with their families or are plagued with illnesses. Psychologists say that people with depression tend to feel worse during this period. Maybe we should be more attentive to those around us who are in need.
